In the spirit of a week devoted to the memory of Saul Alinsky, we reached out to Justin Massa, a 2.0 community organizer who works in Chicago on housing and segregation issues. Massa discussed with us his role as Executive Director of MoveSmart, a startup Nonprofit Organization that seeks to empower housing seekers by connecting them with diversified housing opportunities and resources. Further, he discussed why mapping is now so predominant in the world of 2.0 organization and altruism.
During the day, Massa, a former schoolteacher, works with the Chicago Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights. Even more, interestingly, influenced by punk-rock ethic as a teenager, he worked with an organization to combat hate speech in music (where, despite having one of the least hateful demeanors imaginable, he used to go undercover to concerts that promoted messages of racism and hate).
